14 Hands Merlot offers classic Washington aromas of berries and black cherries. Ripe fruit flavors are joined by subtle toast and mocha nuances. While soft and approachable, this wine maintains a sturdy frame of tannins.
Look for the hint of anise under boysenberry and milk chocolate flavors. You might even try putting a little chill on it to get an entertaining evolution in the glass.
The 2000 Napa Valley Merlot displays a dark purple color with forward aromas of blackberry and subtle hints of coffee, cedar, nutmeg and vanilla. On the palate, fresh plum and cherry flavors mix with black pepper, cassis, and a touch of oak.
Vinification: To make the Fat bastard Merlot we source fruit from all over the Languedoc area known for its stony soil, which naturally limits yields giving the Merlot ripe, fruity character and mature tannins.
