Gato Negro is a well-known wine brand that has been winning awards in competitions across the globe for years. The wines are produced by one of Chile’s oldest and most respected wineries, Viña San Pedro.
San Pedro’s origins date back to 1865, when brothers Bonifacio and José Gregorio Correa, the fifth generation of the family, founded the company on land originally belonging to their ancestors.
Initially cultivated with local grape varieties, these were quickly replaced with vine cuttings brought from France, before Phylloxera devastated the vineyards of Europe.
San Pedro's headquarters are at Molina in the Curicó Valley, 200 km south of Santiago. Viña San Pedro has been owned by Compañía Cervecerías Unidas since 1994 and the winery has risen to new heights under CCU.
